Asheville Branch 248 to Host MDA Golf Tournament, June 16 Nothing could be finer than bringing your golf game to Black Mountain, North Carolina. NALC Branch 248 will be hosting a Golf tournament on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Black Mountain Golf Club. The Tournament starts at 10:00AM. Cost will be $60 per person with a picnic lunch included after the tournament. All proceeds will benefit Muscular Dystrophy. Black Mountain Golf Club is located at the foot of Mount Mitchell, the highest mountain east of the Mississippi river, 6,684 feet in elevation. Located in beautiful Black Mountain, North Carolina, the 6,215 yard par 71 18-hole facilities is the home to the 747-yard par 6 17th holes, which at one time was the longest hole in the world. This Donald Ross designed course, built in 1929, has bent grass greens and plush fairways adding to the attraction of this great municipal golf course that is on par with some of the nicest private courses in the area. The course is just seventeen miles east of Asheville on I-40 at exit 64. Once you take Exit 64, follow the clearly marked signs.
