High Fives go to......

Christina Vela Davidson of Branch 382, Durham, NC. who was one of 30 letter carriers to graduate from the 10th NALC Leadership Academy on December 17 (Shown at left with NALC Vice President George Mignosi).


Trina Charles of Branch 4970 of Havelock, NC. Trina served on the Mileage and Per Diem Committee at the NALC's National Convention in Anaheim, CA.


Four North Carolina branches made the NALC's Top 100 Branches in our 2010 Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. High Fives go to Elkin, NC Branch 3859-- 40,400 lbs (Category 1); Asheville, NC Branch 248--226,686 lbs (Category IV); Raleigh, NC Branch 459--298,888 lbs (Category VI); and Charlotte, NC Branch 545--252,746 lbs (Category VII). Johnny (Duckie) Hill of Branch 545 on receiving his Gold Card Award. Brother Hill served as a shop steward in Monroe, NC for 25 years and carried the same route there for 34 years. He had this advice for members of his branch upon receiving the award: "Stay with it as long as you can. I appreciate the Post Office, the Union, and especially you."


Christina Vela Davidson of Branch 382, Durham, NC. who is one of 30 letter carriers attending the 10th NALC Leadership Academy. She completed one week-long session in July and has two more sessions follow in October and December.


Letter carrier Eric Mitchell of Branch 248, Asheville, NC for generating $46,080 from Sideline Snapshots for the USPS/NALC Customer Connect program.


The following carriers from Minuet Carrier Annex in Charlotte, NC: Edward Hood recipient of the National Safety Council's Million Mile Award for a career of more than 30 years without an accident; Benjamin Black recipient of the "For the Love of Safety" Award for two years of safe driving; William Smith recipient of a 30-year federal service award; and Thomas Hancock and Walter Dewalt for being recognized for their 25 years of federal service.


A High Five to High Point letter carrier Charles Eggerth who recently received a $500 Union SAFE College Savings Grant from Union Plus. Union Plus members are eligible for other educational services at the Union Plus website.


On April 28, Archdale letter carrier Pete Lockhart received the coveted Million Mile Club award.


The International Civil Rights Center and Museum honored Delsene Hauser on March 25th as part of Women's History Month. Sister Hauser, who joined the Postal Service in 1965, was Greensboro's first female letter carrier. If you missed it, there's a story about her in the March issue of The Postal Record.
