The North Carolina Letter Carrier Relief Fund
The North Carolina Letter Carrier Relief Fund

The intent and purpose of the North Carolina Letter Carrier Relief Fund is to provide immediate relief to North Carolina NALC members and their families in the event of unforeseen events, such as natural disasters, fire; or an Act of God, such as hurricanes, floods, etc.

This fund is in no way intended to be used as an insurance supplement, but merely to provide affected letter carriers funds for basic needs during the time period they are awaiting insurance settlements or assistance from agencies such as FEMA, or the Postal Employees Relief Fund (PERF).

Applicants must be active or retired North Carolina NALC members at the time of the disaster and losses must be directly suffered by them.

Maximum payment from this fund will not exceed $500.00

Only one request for relief from this fund will be considered per family residing in the same home, and this place must be the principal residence of the member(s).

All requests for relief from this fund shall be made through the State Association President, accompanied with written certification from the local branch president of the need. In turn, the State Association President will direct the State Treasurer to administer the funds to the requesting letter carrier.

(These guidelines were approved by the Executive Board of the North Carolina State Association of Letter Carriers on March 23, 2000.)
